Dr. David Drez Honored by LSU School of Medicine - Thursday, June 21, 2012

David Drez, Jr., M.D., orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist with Center for Orthopaedics, was honored by the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans at their recent orthopeadic residency graduation ceremony. Dr. Drez has served as a clinical professor of orthopedics for the Medical School for 28 years. The award was given in recognition of his "sustained and compelling record of excellence in teaching and learning, and his ongoing commitment to excellence in instructing LSU orthopaedic residents.”

Dr. Drez is recognized as a leading national expert in the orthopaedic and sports medicine fields, and has published a large body of research that focuses on athletic injuries and prevention. Dr. Drez served as head team physician at McNeese State University for 37 years and continues to serve on the team’s physician staff. He is a member of the university’s Hall of Fame, and in further appreciation of the countless hours he has donated to McNeese, the rehabilitation area of the Sports Medicine Center was named in his honor.

In addition to his position with LSU, Dr. Drez also serves as a clinical assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. In recognition of his contributions to the education of orthopedists, the "Dr. David Drez Chair in Orthopedic Sports Medicine” was dedicated at LSU in New Orleans in 2006.
